Description

This image captures a pair of small obscure objects is located in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +76 degrees.

The object at lower right is Arp 207, also known as UGC 5050. The galaxy is slightly obscured by a blue foreground Milky Way star. This galaxy is 80 million light years away and spans just over 1 arc-minute in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual diameter of 30,000 light years. This object was classified by Arp in the category of "Galaxies with material ejected from nuclei". The galaxy is disturbed, with a long star stream to the lower right, but I cannot identify a responsible nearby companion.

The object at upper left is LEDA 27056. I could not find any information on this galaxy. If it lies at the same distance as Arp 207, it could be close enough to Arp 207 to cause the deformation that we see.

Some sources described Arp 207 as a "spiral galaxy interacting with a dwarf galaxy". I am not sure if the "dwarf galaxy" is LEDA 27056, or if they mistakenly identify the foreground star as a dwarf galaxy. Not many images exist of this object. In my image, the foreground object is clearly a star.
